A smart charger talks to your solar panels and battery. It prioritises charging from your roof. When the sun's out, your car charges for free. When it's not, it charges from your battery, or from cheap-rate grid power.
Schedule charging when grid prices are lowest. Octopus Go, Intelligent Octopus, EDF GoElectric and similar tariffs offer 7p/kWh overnight. A 250-mile range fills up for around £4-5.
We fit chargers that are built to keep up with where home energy is going. Smart scheduling, solar diversion and remote firmware updates are standard. Where bidirectional charging becomes available for your car, we'll talk you through the options when it makes sense for your setup.
Base
Cheap-rate tariff charging. ~£4-5 per full charge on a 125kWh EV battery overnight. Solid base case.
Better
Daytime solar charging when you're working from home or the car's in the drive. Even a 4 kW array can put 20-30 miles into your EV on a sunny day, for free.
Best
The full setup. Your home, battery and car all share energy intelligently. Drive on sunshine, run the house on stored solar, charge the battery on cheap-rate when the panels can't keep up.
Plug straight in
Cable attached to the charger. No faff, no forgetting the cable in the boot. Best for one-EV households who want the simplest daily routine.
Tidier look
No cable on the unit. You bring your own. Better if you might switch EV brands or share the charger with visitors who have different cable types.
Two cars at once
Two cars charging simultaneously, load-balanced to your home's supply. Ideal for two-EV households where both cars are home overnight.
